Dun Flodigarry Hostel is in the Trotternish Peninsula in northern Skye, 8 kms north of Staffin and 33 kms north of the island capital, Portree; take the A855. The hostel is perfectly located for walking the Skye Trail. For more information see the Walk Highlands website HERE.
Flodigarry is well served by Stagecoach buses, Service Numbers 57A and 57C. The timetable is available HERE.
Portree itself is served by regular direct buses from both Glasgow (via Fort William) and Inverness. See CITYLINK for timetables and tickets.
The nearest train stations are at Kyle of Lochalsh (trains from Inverness), which is near the Skye Bridge 86kms south, and Mallaig (trains from Glasgow and Fort William). See SCOTRAIL for train times and tickets.
There is a car ferry from Mallaig to Armadale which is a 100 kms south of the hostel. See the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry timetable HERE. NOTE: Check that the ferry is operating on the day and at the time you wish to travel. Prebooking is essential.
If using Sat Nav choose the route “via the Skye Bridge” unless you have booked the Mallaig to Isle of Skye ferry.
Buses from Kyle of Lochalsh and Armadale link to Portree, where a Stagecoach bus can be taken to Flodigarry.
The nearest international airports are at Inverness about 3 hours driving and Glasgow about 6 hours driving.
For those going on to the Outer Hebrides, the ferry from Uig is 20 kms from the hostel. The Uig ferry terminal is also served by the Flodigarry bus.
